Antique Door Armoire

The Javanese woodcarver who created this armoire from reclaimed teak integrated an antique pair of doors and an old teak ship's hull into the design, powerfully pulling them together with hand-carved detailing. Old teak is extremely thick (3" in places), the armoire very solid.

Timor Kitchen Cupboard
 
This primitively carved teak cupboard was salvaged from a village kitchen in Timor. Hardware and cupboards doors were removed to expose shelves. 3/4" thick teak planks in back may have been added later, but show aging. Side panels are carved with traditional Timor characters. Age gaps and cracks add to the charm of what is aesthetically crude, sturdy, and multi-functional.
